Reef Encounters in Okinawa offers some of the best leadership training in the world. Divemaster Professional Course:
Our professional training course includes:
Training in equipment repair, both in-field quick fixes and full overhauls on the bench
Training in Advanced propulsion techniques to include Helicopter turns, modified frog kicks, backdowns and more
Free dive techniques
Basic boat handling techniques and rope work for boat crew
Diving techniques for boat, night, shore, drift, deep diving, basic salvage, search and recovery
Introduction to double tanks and sidemount diving
Introduction to Teaching theory and class design, Introduction to Modern Marketing techniques
Customer Service training
Graduates of this training will be ready to join any dive shop and be a working contributing member of the team from day one. This is a serious, comprehensive program for someone looking to work professionally in the diving industry. Residency programs are available with housing or for those on Okinawa we can schedule classes around your work schedule.
Prerequisites:
NAUI Scuba Diver/PADI Open water or equivalent
Good physical condition (must pass a physical)
Minimum age 18 years old.
Graduates will be required to own their own personal set of scuba gear to be certified as a Dive Master by completion of the program. We suggest that candidates not owning gear yet wait until attending the first few sessions to buy gear so that they may make an educated decision on the type and style of gear they like and need to work as a pro.
Pro Gear includes:
BC
Regulator with back up second stage and pressure gauge
Dive Computer (Nitrox capable)
Mask, Fins, Snorkel
Deployable SMB with reel or spool at least 100ft/33m
Booties
Appropriate exposure suit
Cutting device
Weight Belt
Lights for night diving and guiding light.
Graduates of the program will need to have 100 dives.
Instructor Courses
NAUI Instructor courses are offered on a monthly basis at Reef Encounters. Candidates must hold a NAUI AI or DM rating or a Divemaster or higher rating from another agency. Custom schedules may be worked out at no extra charge and resident programs and weekend programs are available. Customized Instructor crossover programs are also available for those wishing to offer NAUI training to their clients.
Off-Island Training Opportunities
NAUI Instructor courses, crossovers and technical courses can be arranged off island where our instructors and trainers come to you. Special rates for shop crossovers and instructor courses for groups can be arranged.
